The accident has sparked a complex legal debate as her husband, Brian Hooker, returned to the U.S. Although detained for questioning by Bahamian authorities, Mr. Hooker was released without charges being filed due to a lack of immediate evidence.
Despite his return to the U.S., legal experts emphasize that the investigation remains active, with the U.S. Coast Guard and Royal Bahamas Police Force maintaining concurrent jurisdiction.
Ms. LaCour said, “The police certainly have their work cut out for them in this case, but just because there is no body doesn’t mean there is no evidence.”
