Dean Omar Branham Shirley (DOBS) partner Jessica Dean was featured in The Texas Lawbook after a New Orleans jury awarded $10 million in total damages in a product liability lawsuit, finding that talc powder manufactured by Johnson & Johnson was a substantial cause of Lynne Roy’s mesothelioma and subsequent death in 2020.
The jury assigned J&J’s individual share of the financial liability at $1.2 million. The case also implicated several other co-defendants, including Colgate-Palmolive, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco, and Coty/Pfizer, for negligence in creating dangerous products.
In an interview Saturday, Dean said Roy, a prominent businesswoman, was “one of the nicest, kindest women I have ever met. She gave so much of her time to pro bono or community service.”
The firm was also featured in the publication’s Litigation Roundup.
