California trial lawyer among attorneys who ‘champion’ plaintiff litigation
LOS ANGELES – National plaintiff law firm Baron & Budd, P.C., is pleased to announce the California Daily Journal’s selection of shareholder Roland Tellis to its 2024 Top Plaintiff Lawyers listing. The California publication recognizes distinguished attorneys who “champion plaintiff-side consumer litigation.”
“Roland is a force in the legal community and our firm,” said founding shareholder Russel Budd. “We are thankful that he is a leader on our team.”
Mr. Tellis is chair of the firm’s Los Angeles-based Class Action Practice Group and co-manages the firm’s Los Angeles office. His courtroom accomplishments include securing a $444.5 million class settlement as co-counsel in a case against Hino Motors Ltd. involving falsified emissions tests.
Last year, Mr. Tellis and his team reached a $200 million settlement in a multistate class-action lawsuit against car manufacturers Kia and Hyundai. The suit involved the automakers’ failure to install an engine-immobilizer anti-theft device.
In addition to his lead roles, Mr. Tellis and five other colleagues at Baron & Budd serve on the executive committee for the National Prescription Opiate Litigation, the largest multistate mass tort litigation case in history. Attorneys have obtained nearly $60 billion in settlements against drug distributors, manufacturers and dispensers.
