KERA News reported on five lawsuits filed in Dallas County court alleging that semiconductor technology produced or distributed by major U.S. companies was used in Russian missile and drone attacks that injured and killed Ukrainian civilians. Aldous Law’s Charla Aldous represents victims in the cases, which seek more than $1 million in damages per plaintiff.
The lawsuits name Texas-based companies Texas Instruments and Mouser Electronics, along with Advanced Micro Devices and Intel Corporation, alleging negligence and failure to prevent microchips from reaching Russia through international intermediaries. The plaintiffs argue the companies owed a duty of care to prevent their technology from being diverted into weapons systems allegedly used in strikes against civilians.
“What’s happened in Ukraine, we all know, is atrocious,” Aldous told KERA. “But what’s worse is to know that American companies, knowing what was happening, or should have known what was happening, was continuing to give supplies to the Russians, which would allow them to kill civilians, including doctors, mothers, fathers, and children in Ukraine.”
