Julie A. Springer, board certified in both Civil Trial Law and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and name partner at Weisbart Springer Hayes, writes in The Texas Lawbook about her journey to become a trial attorney as a woman in a male-dominated field.
The article “Gaining a Seat at the Table,” discusses how her father encouraged her to pursue a career and the steps that still need to be taken to make room for women in the law.
“But we still have hurdles to overcome. The percentage of women who are in ABOTA and other prominent trial attorney organizations is still not where it should be in proportion to the number of women in the profession, but it is getting better each year. I am honored by the women who came before me, and my goal is to provide opportunities for the young women in my firm and encourage them to never accept the status quo if it inhibits their opportunities,” Ms. Springer writes.
