Attorney Sarita Prabhu and Bradley Dallas partner Jacque Kruppa were featured in The Texas Lawbook after launching a nonprofit organization called Dallas Soccer Scholars to help low-income families afford the rising costs of competitive youth soccer. Inspired by the leadership, teamwork, and personal growth their sons experienced through the sport, the founders aimed to prevent talented children from dropping out due to financial constraints. The organization, which officially launched last July and secured its tax-exempt status in January, serves Dallas-area youths aged 10 to 18. It has already accepted 12 scholars and sponsored two tournament teams to ease travel expenses.
“We started thinking, what if we got really organized on this and really methodical and started a nonprofit that could really help these kids, not just from the soccer standpoint but holistically on the kid in general, and give them some incentives to maintain the scholarship,” Ms. Kruppa said.
