Published in the October 2025 issue of the Dallas Bar Association’s Headnotes publication, Sidley Austin LLP partner Angela Zambrano, and attorneys Lora Chowdhury and Andi Greco, authored an article examining how presumably harmless “free work” or goodwill gestures can lead to unintended obligations.

“To avoid creating unintentional legal liabilities, it is critical to understand how courts view various types of preparatory and pre-contractual work by professional service firms and where they draw the line between free work and legal liability,” they wrote.
