The article details how several families are suing Houston-based Surrogacy Escrow Account Management (SEAM) after the sudden disappearance of money they invested money in an escrow account used to pay surrogates. Company owner Dominique Side is the focus of an investigation into $10.9 million in missing escrow funds.

“These families have already been through so much to even get to the point of hiring a surrogate to carry their babies,” Ms. Robak told People. “To lose out on so much at this stage of their journey is devastating.”
