News Coverage Elevates Burns Charest’s $9.6 Million Verdict Against American Airlines

Burns Charest attorneys Darren Nicholson and Hannah Crowe secured a $9.6 million verdict in California federal court against American Airlines, finding that the crew of a flight from Miami to Madrid failed to follow policies and procedures when a passenger suffered a stroke shortly after takeoff in 2021.

The verdict has received media coverage in The Dallas Morning News, The Texas Lawbook, and Law360, in addition to numerous other travel industry and news outlets.

“This verdict not only was a victory for our clients, but it’s a victory for anyone who flies on an international flight,” Mr. Nicholson told Law360. “There are standards that airlines simply have to follow, and we need to make sure that they follow them.”
