Lyons & Simmons’ $109.5 Million Award Garners Media Attention Across Texas

Lyons & Simmons secured $109.5 million in damages against natural gas utility CPS Energy for an explosion of a rental property in San Antonio that left the resident and his mother with permanent, life-altering injuries.

The jury verdict received widespread coverage including a nod to the legal team in Am Law Litigation Daily’s “Litigator of the Week Runners-Up and Shout-Outs.”

“CPS Energy refused to take responsibility despite the fact that both the San Antonio Police Department’s arson team and the San Antonio Fire Department determined the explosion was caused by natural gas,” lead attorney Michael Lyons told The Texas Lawbook.
