Shackelford partner Raymond Panneton was featured in The Daily Mail recently after Donald Trump-affiliated companies filed a trademark complaint against a California winery, Republican Red, seeking to cancel its “45-47” wine branding. The lawsuit, targeting a Trump supporter’s winery in Monterey, claims the branding causes a “likelihood of confusion” by implying an official endorsement.  

Mr. Panneton said the challenge reflects how aggressively Trump protects his brand, even against supporters.   

“The Trump name has been a well-known brand long before the president announced his 2016 bid for the White House,” Panneton said.
