Hilgers Partner Featured in The Texas Lawbook ‘Asked & Answered’

In a recent interview with The Texas Lawbook, Hilgers partner David Sillers discussed his career specialization in First Amendment law, which was sparked by studying landmark civil liberties cases at Princeton University.

Sillers, who focuses on complex litigation involving defamation and constitutional rights, uses historical precedents to address modern challenges in free speech and governmental regulation.

The Asked & Answered session covered the intersection of artificial intelligence and law, where Sillers highlights the potential for AI to reduce litigation costs alongside the ethical risks. He emphasizes the importance of pro bono advocacy, sharing experiences regarding asylum and civil rights cases.

“AI-generated anonymous defamation is a big one. It’s becoming easier and easier to hide the identity of an author, because a lot of times the tools that you have to identify who is speaking are based on things like the IP address and what the sentence structure is, comparing it to prior writings of the people.”
