The Washington Examiner spoke with David Coale, partner at Lynn Pinker Hurst & Schwegmann about the legal profession’s adoption of AI tools and the concerns that have resulted from misuse such as fake case citations and botched filings.
“The real issue, just on the horizon, is hallucinated facts,” Mr. Coale told the Washington Examiner. “The coming problem, I think, is not lawyers misusing AI — it’s clients. Very angry people in child custody cases, for example, who put together ‘alternative facts’ to fool their own lawyers, opposing counsel, and the courts.”
