What happens if individuals on unemployment benefits do not search actively or refuse a job or decide not to go back to work if the employer’s business reopens?
Generally, an employee becomes automatically ineligible for unemployment benefits if they are offered a job and turn it down without good cause. As of April 30, the Texas Workplace Commission has outlined scenarios in which a worker would have good cause to refuse to return to work and still maintain unemployment benefits.
