The Dallas-based firm of Burns Charest served as co-lead counsel in reaching four class action settlements that secured $700 million on behalf of more than 1,000 hospitals nationwide. Defendants in the case included Cencora (formerly AmerisourceBergen), Cardinal Health, McKesson, Johnson & Johnson, Teva, and Allergan, and received coverage from several medical publications.
The companies agreed to pay the health care providers “for the past and future costs of treatment of opioid abuse and community outreach programs to address the epidemic.”
